District 42 serves Alcoholics Anonymous in Burr Ridge, Clarendon Hills, Darien, Downers Grove, Hinsdale, Oakbrook, Westmont & Willowbrook.
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organaization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

Groups & Meetings
Groups specific to District 42, although more than that are welcome. For any open meetings, anyone who is not an alcoholic and wishes to learn more can join, and closed meetings are available for anyone who thinks they may have a problem with alcohol, regardless of location, age, gender or beliefs, unless otherwise specified.
Events
We aim to host events as often as possible to bring people together and to share our common purpose and goals – to help our fellow alcoholics. Many events are open to the alcoholic and their family and friends. Check for upcoming events below.
Service & Literature
Alcoholics Anonymous has a plethora of literature to help guide the alcoholic through their recovery. Some of these include the Big Book, the 12 & 12, and Daily Meditations, though there are many more.
Similarly, the literature states that we need service in order to stay sober, and that is where service work comes in. There are always positions to fill, whether it be at your local meetings, your home group, or even your District meetings.
